The renovation of this kitchen and bathroom of an apartment in Sant Pol de Mar has allowed us to open up new spaces without leaving home. We started with a kitchen that was designed 25 years ago and that needed a makeover. Without hardly changing the layout of the furniture, only slightly changing its composition, the project we have designed has allowed us to turn this kitchen space into one of the main rooms of the house, with a new lease of life and new aesthetics.

We have totally renovated the furniture, lighting and appliances. It was based on the concept of creating a white kitchen, in the creative process we proposed to open up to more possibilities, and finally a REKKER kitchen installed by HISOM was designed with more colour interplays. The combination of a soft moka shade for the high cabinets, with the countertop and front in black allowed us to give a balanced contrast to the low wooden furniture that offers sobriety to the whole ensemble, enhancing its character.

The display case with black profiles, with hidden hinges and indirect lighting on the back of the shelves makes it a key element in the kitchen.

The layout of the fixtures (hob, extractor hood, sink, dishwasher) has remained almost the same. The furniture and its compartmentalisation have been designed to be as efficient and comfortable as possible, prioritising wide drawers in the low furniture units. A piece of furniture with a narrower countertop has been incorporated at the back of the office kitchen with the coffee maker and other utensils to prepare breakfast or make a light snack.

In the bathroom area, the finishes have been renovated and new toilets installed, always with the aim of seeking amplitude in a very narrow space. For this reason, a wall-mounted toilet with a recessed cistern has been installed that does not invade the space so much and the box of the cistern has allowed us to fit a shelf to which a LED lighting strip has been fitted. We have looked for a way to make the sink furniture functional and narrow and a bowl-shaped sink has been placed on a shelf of natural wood. We selected a lightweight tap by the firm Iconico. For our clients, it was very important to keep the mirror, so the finish of the tap and the rest of the accessories is also in aged gold combining very well with the hydraulic tiles in a bright shade of turquoise and wood.

The entire renovated area has been unified with a new flooring, large tiles with a grey cement finish, a zen-inspired, neutral and elegant finish that fits very well with the other textures.
